2012 Easy Dining "Country Christmas Party"
It was a knee-slapping, foot–stompin’ Country Christmas party Wednesday night at the Kiva Club for Sunset Crater’s Easy Diners. Dressed in their cowboy/cowgirl best, with special appearances by the Earp brothers, aka Marvin and Larry, and also some Billy the Kid and Jesse James look-a- likes, they bellied up to the bar and mingled wishing everyone good cheer. The evening started with fabulous appetizers brought by Easy Diners, followed by a good old fashion western buffet prepared by the Kiva Club staff of salad, mashed potatoes, brisket and green beans topped off with pumpkin cheesecake for dessert.
We then went into the entertainment part of the evening starting with Pat Wenkus reciting Chapter Two of her famous poem from last year “Twas The Night Before Christmas.” Keep it coming, Pat, we so enjoy your humor. Pam Clements then spoke to the crowd about Faith House and the generous support and contributions that our Easy Dining group provided so a family can have a new start. Thank you, Pam, for all your work for those in need. Pam also recognized Yvonne Gatlin for not only being our host, but for without Yvonne, there would be no Easy Dining. Four years ago, Yvonne started Easy Dining, and today we are a neighborhood of not only diners, but friends who care about each other and support each other. We are the envy of Trilogy, and to Yvonne we all say – Thank You!
It didn’t stop there, folks. We had dancers – boot scuttin’ boogie dancers. Headed by Mary Fleming, several Easy Dining ladies did a dance to “Boot Scuttin’ Boogie.” Mary then invited the audience to join in the dance (men and women). What a hoot!
Easy Dining is lucky to have the famous Jerry Clements reside in Sunset Crater, as he performed “Cowboy Christmas Carols” and then invited folks to come up and join him in singing some favorites.
It was a wonderful holiday party enjoyed by so many friends and neighbors. For those of you who couldn’t be with us, and for those who were there and can’t remember, here are a few pictures and a video highlighting the evening. Enjoy!
